For manufacturers a service to assess race and roadcar design at the earliest stage possible to forestall later safety and comfort issues (cockpit design, ergonomics).

As the designs come together we work with manufacturers with early prototypes to adjust vehicles to be practical to real use on the track and on the road.

On track we work to get optimum driving situations in the vehicles for multiple different drivers, work with seating, personal safety equipment.

In the event of accidents we can provide a full accident reporting service to review what has gone well and what has not, in order to learn and develop next-stage adjustments and improvements to a design.

For championship organisers a service to check driver safety equipment in use by competitors – to check from the aspect of legality and conforming to regulations, but also to check beyond mere ‘label checking’ and look in depth at the equipment in use from the point of view of both condition and suitability for use in the particular situation in which it is being used. This is relevant not just to driver safety equipment, but also in-car equipment – headrests, leg protection, seatbelts…

We work with organisers to review how safety considerations are handled to achieve the best results in cooperation between track and racing people. For example in the education of: a) track personnel: scrutineers, rescue, extrication crews; b) team personnel: engineers, mechanics, drivers.

To achieve this we can provide briefings / presentations to groups at or away from the track.

For racing federations a service to pre-plan future safety equipment design and regulation so that it is thought out not merely from a lab technicians testing point of view, but also from the point of view of REAL USE AT A RACE TRACK! How is the equipment REALLY going to be used, what modifications WILL teams and drivers need to do at the track, how can those things be achieved without compromising the original design. A follow up service at the track to check legality, conformity, ‘fit for purpose’, weight, dimensions. Post accident reporting and recommendations.

Reviewing possible rule adjustments prior to introduction, new safety products, implementation of new concepts (Past examples: FIA Advanced Safety Helmet 8860, Hans system Frontal Head Restraint (FHR)).

We provide practical guidance to ‘real racing situations’ – as opposed to theoretical research situations.

Laboratory developed concepts frequently ignore real life use considerations of how the safety products will be used resulting in major issues when products are mandated without practical issues having been taken into account.

Checks:

We advise on how to monitor standards and how safety products should be checked by race federation conformity checking bodies, and how they should be periodically rechecked by batch checks without notice to manufacturers to maintain consistent quality control.

We can provide on-the-spot surprise checks at events to monitor correct adherence to standards, condition and use.

Accident reporting:

We can provide a service to monitor accidents and build a database to plot patterns in accidents so that the future planning of adjustments to safety policy and products is done from the point of view of facts.

The only effective way to carry out accident reports is immediate ‘at the event’ monitoring – not post event looking at footage and accident data recordings – both are needed to form a full unbiased picture.

Immediate ‘eyes-on’ reporting and immediate discussion with those involved is essential. Views formed from later looking at data often completely miss vital points obvious at the site.
